Tajikistan has owest average salary in Central Asia

As of November 2024, the average monthly nominal salary in Tajikistan was 2,628.90 somoni ($241), representing a 1.4% increase compared to October 2024 and a 24.7% increase compared to November 2023, the Agency for Statistics under Tajik President informs.

The minimum wage in the country is 800 somoni ($73), Asiaplus.tj reports.

The lowest salaries in 2024 were recorded in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors, averaging 1,093.58 somoni ($99).

The highest salaries were earned by employees in the financial intermediation and insurance sectors, reaching 6,894.13 somoni ($630).

According to the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, in September 2024, the average nominal salary in Kazakhstan was $817.2, nearly twice as high as in Uzbekistan ($437.8) and Kyrgyzstan ($411.2).

Kazakhstan also leads in terms of minimum wages: in 2024, it was 85,000 tenge ($181.1). For comparison, the minimum wage was $89.4 in Uzbekistan, $54.9 in Tajikistan, and $28.3 in Kyrgyzstan.

Salary data for Turkmenistan depends on the exchange rate of the US dollar to the Turkmen manat. Based on the official exchange rate, the average salary is $402. However, if the real exchange rate is 1 USD = 19 manat, then the average salary drops to $74.
