DUSHANBE - Tajikistan has created a separate Defense Industry Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the government, Avesta.tj reports.
The new body will oversee the defense industry. The Committee's regulations, the structure of its central office, and a list of subordinate organizations have been approved. The central office will have 38 employees, including eight military personnel. The structure will include two deputy chairmen and a seven-member board.
The Committee will be funded from the national budget and special funds, subject to approval by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan. Authorities have ordered the allocation of a separate administrative building for the new agency.
At the same time, defense industry matters have been removed from the purview of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, meaning this area will be placed under independent management.
The creation of a separate committee reflects increased state control over defense production and the formation of a separate governance structure in this strategic sector.
