The Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan held online talks with representatives of SpaceX/Starlink to discuss further cooperation following the official launch of the satellite internet service in the country, Avesta.tj reports.
During the meeting, the Tajik side presented a roadmap for cooperation, which envisages the use of Starlink technologies in education, healthcare, government services, providing communications in remote areas, implementing artificial intelligence, digital mapping, and creating an environmentally sustainable computing infrastructure. The parties agreed to continue working on the development and implementation of joint projects.
The launch of Starlink in Tajikistan opens up new opportunities to overcome one of the key limitations of the country's digital transformation: the lack of stable internet access in mountainous and remote regions.
Satellite communications can become an important tool for connecting schools, medical institutions, and government agencies in hard-to-reach areas, where developing traditional telecommunications infrastructure is costly.
For Tajikistan, cooperation with Starlink is also strategically important as part of its transition to a digital economy and the development of new technological areas, including artificial intelligence and data processing.
At the same time, implementing such projects will require addressing service costs, training personnel, and integrating satellite technologies into the national digital infrastructure. In the long term, access to global satellite networks could strengthen the country's competitiveness and expand its participation in regional digital integration processes in Central Asia.
