Ankara considers Tajikistan as one of the key partners in the strategically important region of Central Asia, said Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz at a meeting with the Tajik delegation led by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, Anadolu agency reports.

“We share common cultural values with the friendly and brotherly Tajikistan, making this country one of our priority partners in the Central Asian region,” Yılmaz emphasized.

He highly praised the current level of relations and assured that the Republic of Turkiye is committed to further deepening them.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed specific steps to expand cooperation in trade, economic, investment, tourism, and educational spheres.

In particular, a consensus was reached on increasing Turkish investments in the Tajik economy.

It should be noted that in recent years, trade and economic partnership between the countries has shown impressive dynamics.

The volume of mutual trade in 2023 reached a record $850 million.

The key articles of Turkish exports to Tajikistan are industrial equipment, textiles, building materials, and consumer goods.

In turn, Turkiye imports mainly agricultural products, mineral raw materials, and cotton processing products from Tajikistan.

Yılmaz thanked the Tajik delegation for the visit and expressed confidence that it would serve as an additional impetus for deepening comprehensive Turkish-Tajik partnership on a mutually beneficial basis.

It is evident that official Ankara is seriously aiming to further strengthen its position in Central Asia, considering Tajikistan as one of the key links in its regional strategy.
