ASHGABAT - Turkmenistan continues construction of the new Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway. The total length of the road will be approximately 251 kilometers, Orient.tm reports.
The project includes two sections: 207 kilometers from Turkmenbashi to Garabogaz, and 43.6 kilometers from Garabogaz to the Kazakh border. The work is being carried out by Altyn Nesil, commissioned by the Ministry of Roads of Turkmenistan.
The new highway will be four-lane, with a concrete median barrier and a modern safety system. The highway will have a daily capacity of up to 14,000 vehicles. Bus stops, gas stations, parking lots, and service facilities are planned along the route.
More than 1,300 specialists and nearly 1,000 pieces of equipment are involved in the construction. Road infrastructure, including water treatment facilities and checkpoints, is also planned.
The new road will become part of the North-South international transport corridor connecting Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan. Ashgabat hopes the project will expand the region's transit capacity and strengthen trade ties with Central Asian countries.
