Turkmenistan consideres possibility of supplying gas to Turkey through Iran

In Ashgabat, during the 7th meeting of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the relevance of the gas supply project from Turkmenistan to Turkey through the territory of Iran was emphasized, Orient.tm reports.

During the meeting, participants discussed the possibilities of supplying Turkmen natural gas to the Turkish market, he TDH news agency announed.

Given the promising nature of the aforementioned project, the parties agreed to initiate negotiations at the level of heads of relevant departments and companies in the near future.

It is noted that the natural resource base of the Turkmen state, with the Galkynysh field as a crucial part, allows fully meeting the energy needs of interested countries and regions.

"Along with this, the gas transportation infrastructure created by Turkmenistan in recent years provides Turkmenistan with ample opportunities to export its natural gas in large volumes in the western direction," the statement said.

The meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was attended by the heads of leading ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the representative delegation of Turkey, led by Vice President Jevdet Yılmaz.

Before the joint Commission meeting, Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdymukhamedov met with Vice President Jevdet Yılmaz, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit leading his country's delegation.

After the meeting, Jevdet Yılmaz stated that he had a very productive conversation with the leader of Turkmenistan on a wide range of topics. The Vice President also conveyed greetings from Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
