The possibility of establishing a regional training center by the World Customs Organization (WCO) at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan was discussed during a meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the new Secretary-General of the WCO, Jan Sonders, Orient.tm reports.
The opening of such a training center would be a significant step towards strengthening the professional capacity in the field of customs affairs in the region, noted during the meeting, which took place in Brussels, the headquarters of the organization, during the Turkmen delegation's visit to Europe.
Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov emphasized Turkmenistan's efforts to integrate into international customs systems, including joining key WCO conventions in recent years, according to the press service of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Issues related to the participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in educational and qualification improvement programs of the WCO were also discussed.
Jan Sonders highly appreciated Turkmenistan's initiatives and achievements in the field of customs regulation and expressed readiness to provide necessary support and consultations for further development and improvement of the country's customs system.
