Turkmenistan ready to assist Afghanistan's energy projects

The Consul General of Turkmenistan in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Bazarbay Kabaev, during a meeting with the governor of Afghanistan's Balkh province, noted that the implementation of the TAPI project, the import of electricity from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, the operation of the railway between the two countries, the establishment of good economic relations, and the creation of conditions for traders are progressing through the joint efforts of both sides, Orient.tm reports, citing Afghan agency AVA.

Kabaev stated that Turkmenistan is ready to support Afghanistan's energy projects, alongside the development of trade, transit, and economic relations, which should be strengthened due to the shared border.

Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, the governor of Balkh province, in turn, noted that a solid foundation for investment and trade with foreign partners is forming in Afghanistan. Modern equipment for checking the quality of export and import goods has been installed at all Afghan border checkpoints, he added, emphasizing the possibility of increasing trade volumes between the two countries, including through the simplification of procedures.

The agency also reported that some local officials were present at the meeting, including the head of Afghanistan's National Union of Oil and Gas Traders, Seyed Karim Hashemi.
