Humanitarian aid was sent to the Afghan people using funds from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Children in Need of Care. This order was issued by the President of Turkmenistan, reports Orient.tm.

This act of goodwill coincides with the start of construction on the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline, power transmission lines, and transport and communication links on the Turkmen-Afghan border, the statement said.

The humanitarian cargo includes baby food, wheat, food and industrial goods, urea, diesel fuel, gasoline, and cement.

This action continues Turkmenistan’s long-standing efforts to support Afghanistan and aims to strengthen the traditional friendship and good-neighborly relations between the Turkmen and Afghan peoples, according to the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A representative group from Turkmenistan and high-ranking Afghan officials participated in the ceremony for handing over the humanitarian cargo.

"I want to assure our Afghan brothers and partners that Turkmenistan will continue to provide comprehensive support to the neighboring country, including economic and political-diplomatic assistance, especially on the international stage," said the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the ceremonies for the opening and laying of energy, transport, communication, and logistics infrastructure facilities on Wednesday.
