WB noted Tajikistan's efforts in expanding cashless transactions

The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdaus Tolibzoda, held a meeting with a group of World Bank representatives visiting Tajikistan, led by the World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia, Mr. Asad Alam, Avesta reports.

During the meeting, information was presented on the current state of the banking system and the country's macroeconomic indicators. The parties discussed various issues of bilateral relations, development forecasts, and the expansion of cooperation, focusing on utilizing existing opportunities and resources.

It was noted that the National Bank of Tajikistan, as the regulatory body of the system, continuously maintains cooperation with international financial institutions and the country's financial institutions, considering the growing importance of the financial sector in expanding the green economy, developing and implementing leading ESG practices, and executing programs on climate change and environmental risk management.

Alongside these issues, the parties also shared their views on the "Development Policy Support (DPO)" project and explored new areas of partnership to support the country's social and economic development goals, including the expansion of cashless transactions. They emphasized the importance of this project's implementation for the country's socio-economic growth, particularly in expanding cashless transactions.

The World Bank delegation noted the efforts of the Republic of Tajikistan in expanding cashless transactions and expressed their readiness to support the Republic of Tajikistan in this area. It should be noted that the meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, and the parties expressed their desire to continue mutually beneficial bilateral relations in the future.
