Central Asian countries stress importance of strengthening parliamentary dialogue

On April 7, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received heads of parliamentary delegations from Central Asian countries who arrived to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by: Erlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, Faizali Idizoda, Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan

The parliamentary leaders highlighted the significance of the international event, which is being held in the Central Asian region for the first time.

During the meeting, participants discussed further strengthening and deepening relations of friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance among the brotherly nations.

They highly praised the results of the first "Central Asia – European Union" summit and the Climate Forum, both held on April 4 in Samarkand.

The historical nature of recent regional meetings was emphasized, including the full resolution of border delimitation issues and the signing of the Treaty on the Junction Point of the State Borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in Khujand.

Over the past years, trade turnover in the region has increased significantly, and cross-border trade zones have been established. Cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy are successfully being implemented, alongside dynamic cultural and educational collaboration programs.

The meeting also underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary dialogue, including at the committee level, to bring the countries and their peoples closer together, promote joint initiatives and cooperation projects, and expand interregional contacts and humanitarian exchanges.
