Cost of implemented projects in Turkmenistan exceeded $50 bln

Turkish contractors are actively implementing projects in Turkmenistan, with a total value exceeding $50 billion, stated the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey, Mehmet Fatih Kadir, during a Turkmen-Turkish business forum held as part of President Serdar Berdymukhamedov's visit to Ankara.

Kadir announced that Turkish companies have taken on the responsibility for over 1,000 projects in Turkmenistan. He expressed the hope that they would continue to contribute to the implementation of new projects in Turkmenistan, especially in the city of Arkadag, Orient.tm reports.

He also called for an increase in trade and investment between Turkey and Turkmenistan. Kadir emphasized that the Presidents of Turkey and Turkmenistan share the common goal of increasing the trade volume between the two countries to $5 billion. He invited Turkmen companies to invest more in Turkey and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Turkish side.

The Minister highlighted the importance of cooperation between friendly nations that serve as a bridge between Asia and Europe, emphasizing its significance for both economic prosperity and strengthening friendships among peoples. He underlined the importance of the forum, which brings together the top leaders and business communities of Turkey and Turkmenistan, and called for further development of relations based on the historical and cultural heritage of both countries.

Kadir expressed hope for an increase in trade volume between the two countries from $2.1 billion in 2022 to $5 billion in the coming years.

Strengthening trade and investment ties between Turkey and Turkmenistan can contribute to the development and economic growth of both nations. Such a partnership creates opportunities for industrial development, business expansion, and the creation of new job opportunities. Turkey and Turkmenistan will continue to collaborate to achieve the stated goals and expand their prospective economic cooperation.

The Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan have expressed interest in obtaining and transiting Turkmen natural gas through the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline. Consultations have already been held between the leaders of the three countries. Turkmenistan is also interested in the construction of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline, which would enable gas export diversification.

China remains the primary consumer of Turkmen gas. Turkmenistan exports over 42 billion cubic meters of gas annually to China.

In terms of gas reserves, Turkmenistan ranks among the top five countries in the world.
