During negotiations in Bishkek, the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, discussed with the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, the Prime Minister, Akylbek Japarov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zhanbek Kulubaev, issues related to the effective implementation of the European Union's sanctions policy, Economist.kg reports.

The European Union is working on the effective implementation of the sanction regime, stated Marilyn Josefson, the head of the EU representation in Kyrgyzstan.

"However, there are no statements about any additional measures, including the imposition of secondary sanctions against Kyrgyzstan at the moment," she noted. "At this point, I don't see additional measures being discussed."

However, the final position of the European Union on sanctions will depend on how effective the joint work between the EU leadership and Kyrgyzstan proves to be, acknowledged the EU representation.

"The essence is to find ways for monitoring and controlling the flow of goods. In particular, this concerns goods imported into Kyrgyzstan, which the European Union would like to monitor more closely," stated the EU representative.
