ASTANA - Kazakhstan has implemented a mechanism for the electronic exchange of permits for international road transport with Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported. This initiative aims to further digitalize the industry and simplify procedures for carriers, according to KazTAG.kz.
The new system completely eliminates paper forms. All permits are issued and used electronically through the integrated information systems of partner countries. This service is available through the eLicense.kz portal in the "Transport" section, subject to vehicle registration in Kazakhstan and approval for international transport.
The Ministry noted that Kazakhstan is consistently expanding the geography of its digital interactions. Having previously digitized permits with China and Uzbekistan, the launch of electronic exchange with these new countries marks the next stage in the transition to a fully digital system for managing international transport.
The Ministry emphasized that the use of intermediaries in obtaining permits is unacceptable. All data on issued electronic documents, including carrier and vehicle information, is automatically transmitted to the information systems of partner countries, ensuring transparency and control.
According to transport authorities, the total volume of transit cargo through Kazakhstan will reach approximately 40 million tons in 2026, reflecting its strengthening role as a key transit hub in Eurasia and the growth of international transport flows.
If violations are detected—including the use of improperly issued or third-party permits—entry into transit countries may be denied, as well as other penalties. Therefore, carriers are urged to strictly adhere to established procedures and use only official government digital services.
