Deputy Mayor of Almaty City Alisher Abdykadyrov reported that by 2027 the city plans to produce up to 230,000 cars a year. He recalled that Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan was put into operation at the end of 2020. In 2022, the construction of a plant for Chinese brands Changan, Chery, Haval was launched. The total investment is 115 billion tenge, the capacity is 90 thousand cars per year.
“Nearby, a project for auto components and components is being implemented - these are plastic products, car seats, multimedia systems. That is, by 2026 it is planned to increase the volume of car production up to 120 thousand units per year,” the LS portal reports with reference to the deputy akim of Almaty.
A. Abdykadyrov also told A. Smailov that within the framework of the second stage of the development of the industrial zone, it is planned to build two more plants. In particular, it is planned to organize the assembly of cars of Chinese brands Exeed, Geely with a capacity of 80 thousand units per year. The project is estimated at 72 billion tenge. It is also expected to open an enterprise for the assembly of agricultural machinery JCB, FENDT, Deutz-Fahr. The volume of investments in this plant will amount to 32 billion tenge. Capacity - 5 thousand units per year.
“The implementation of projects in the automotive cluster by 2027 will increase the production of cars up to 230 thousand per year, which in turn will allow the formation of a full-fledged automotive cluster,” summed up A. Abdykadyrov.
