Kyrgyzstan is completing negotiations on opening a third highway linking with China through the Bedel Pass, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan said at a meeting of the country's parliament, 24.kg reports.

During a parliamentary meeting, deputy Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov proposed the Government of Kyrgyzstan to open a transport road with China through the Kara-Kulja district in the Osh region.

“I gave you a proposal for the development of districts. If the road with China through Kara-Kulja was opened, then the region would develop on its own, and the Cabinet of Ministers would not worry about its economy. It would be the shortest route with China. Only 150 kilometers,” Kadyrbekov said.

The head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Zhaparov agreed with the need to develop relations with China.

“The whole world is trying to establish trade and economic relations with China. Now we are completing negotiations on the opening of the Bedel road. This will be the third highway with China,” Zhaparov said.

The Bedel Pass is located in the Issyk-Kul region and is known for the fact that local residents fled to China through it from the punitive operation of Tsarist Russia in 1916. The height of the pass reaches 4284 meters.
