An agreement to establish the first Turkmen-Korean joint venture, "Yerli Tor," was signed in Seoul during the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan and a bilateral business forum, Turkmenportal.com reported.
The partners were the Turkmen IT company "Amatly Chozgyut" and the Korean company "S&T System Inc." Furthermore, the Turkmen individual enterprise "Ojar Asia" and "S&T System Inc." signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure and security systems.
The main objective of "Yerli Tor" will be the deployment of local production of servers, data storage systems, and network equipment in Turkmenistan. The Korean side will provide technology transfer and technical expertise, while the Turkmen partners will be responsible for infrastructure, assembly, maintenance, and adaptation of solutions for the domestic market, providing the public sector and data centers with domestically produced equipment.
This project marks Turkmenistan's transition from the direct import of ready-made IT solutions to the localization of high-tech production. Cooperation with South Korea allows Ashgabat to strengthen its technological sovereignty and lay the foundation for the modernization of critical digital infrastructure.
However, the success of the initiative will directly depend on the scale of the technology transferred, the pace of training local engineering personnel, and the true depth of localization of the component base.
