The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has stated the necessity of transitioning to a new economic model. He plans to present his vision for the country's economic policy in an upcoming address to the people of Kazakhstan, which will be announced in September, KazTAG reports.

A very serious impetus is needed for Kazakhstan's economic development to move onto entirely new tracks, believes Tokayev.

"Now is a crucial historical moment, and considering the current state of Kazakhstan's economy, it cannot remain as it is going forward. This is definite. This is my profound belief. The government's task here is to provide appropriate proposals. Firstly, to ensure the guarantee of implementing plans that will be prepared in accordance with these proposals. But I won't hide the fact that I am personally contemplating how to approach the development and preparation of a new economic model."

"Recently, I chaired a meeting of the High Economic Council. I will directly state that I expressed criticism towards our domestic economists. I believe they do not refine their work, lack creativity, and understanding of the tasks that stand before us and the state as a whole. The people expect concrete solutions from us, given that the most urgent questions need to be addressed," noted Tokayev.
