Tajikistan and EU cooperation in international transportation discussed in Dushanbe

Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, met in Dushanbe with Senior Adviser and Head of the Cooperation Sector of the European Union's office, Isabel Uriz Hernández, the press service of the ministry announced, Avesta reports.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in international transport between Tajikistan and the European Union, the use and expansion of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as the connection of Central Asian countries' road networks with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) were discussed.

The parties also paid special attention to the EU's study on advancing the "Global Gateway" strategy for Central Asia, aiming to explore and define international transport corridors.

The EU representative noted that, in the short term, the European Union will focus its efforts on attracting infrastructure investments, particularly on developing one-stop border checkpoints and a joint logistics center near the "Fotehobod" checkpoint, located in the Matchin district of Sughd region, as well as implementing an integrated border management system and coordinating digital networks in the Republic of Tajikistan.

The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere, marked by friendship and mutual understanding.
