Tajikistan calls for strengthening fight against drug trafficking from Afghanistan

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, emphasized the importance of maintaining a continuous dialogue on the issue of drug trafficking from Afghanistan during the meeting of foreign ministers at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Ia-centr.ru reports.

Muhriddin noted that regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) play a significant role in complementing the efforts of the UN in countering threats.

Previously, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan stated that the security and stability of Central Asia are directly linked to the situation in Afghanistan. The Tajik leader described the Afghan situation as the "largest humanitarian crisis in the world" and called on the international community to increase humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. He emphasized that Tajikistan has created the necessary conditions for logistical support for this initiative.
