The topics for discussion at the 17th meeting of the Tajikistan-Iran Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation were reviewed during a meeting in Dushanbe between Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and Iran’s First Vice President, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi. The event is scheduled to take place in Iran in May 2025, reports Asiaplus.tj.
According to the press service of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, during the meeting, both sides expressed their intention to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The Tajik energy minister emphasized that "the Government of Tajikistan pays special attention to the development of bilateral relations with Iran, considering it one of the most important strategic partners in the region."
Daler Juma noted that in the first three months of 2025, the volume of bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Iran amounted to $110.6 million, which is $33.2 million more compared to the same period last year. This achievement, in the minister’s view, indicates the dynamic development of economic cooperation and the strong potential for further strengthening of trade and economic ties.
The upcoming commission meeting is expected to give new momentum to the development of bilateral relations, with a focus on key areas of cooperation such as energy, the economy, and cultural exchanges.
In addition, the recently signed regional document - the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan - was discussed during the meeting. Ali Najafi expressed support for the signing of this agreement, emphasizing its significance not only for the three countries but also for the entire Central Asian region.
Both sides noted that the upcoming events and bilateral initiatives will undoubtedly strengthen relations between Tajikistan and Iran and improve cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, culture, and science.
