Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom plan to expand their bilateral economic ties, British Ambassador to Turkmenistan Stephen Conlon said in an interview with Trend, as reported by Orient.tm.
The diplomat highlighted that the recent visit of Turkmenistan’s Minister of Finance and Economy to the UK for the Turkmenistan-UK Trade and Industry Council meeting was an important step in strengthening business relations. During the visit, the minister held talks with leading British companies, including the London Stock Exchange and JCB, opening up prospects for new joint projects.
British companies are already actively engaged in Turkmenistan in sectors such as tourism, energy, and infrastructure. Conlon emphasized that trade volume between the two countries reached £79 million in the third quarter of 2024, underscoring Turkmenistan’s status as a reliable and promising trade partner for the UK.
Special attention is being given to cooperation in clean energy. According to the ambassador, both countries aim to work together on projects focused on achieving carbon neutrality.
Additionally, the UK and Turkmenistan are collaborating with key partners to expand cooperation in mechanical engineering and support British companies interested in increasing exports to Turkmenistan.
This multifaceted partnership opens up new opportunities for both nations and lays the foundation for sustainable economic growth.
