At the first session of the conference "30 Years of Partnership between Turkmenistan and the EU: Joint Efforts for the Future," the Turkmen side outlined priority areas of cooperation with the European Union, reports the online publication News Central Asia.

The event is taking place as part of the visit to Turkmenistan by the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Terry Hakala. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and EU Special Representative Hakala spoke at the opening and answered questions from the head of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan, Beata Peska, according to the report.

In his speech, Rashid Meredov emphasized the importance of increasing potential in various fields. Security in all its dimensions - global, regional, and national, which are closely interrelated, is also a top priority.

The Foreign Minister stated that Turkmenistan consistently advocates for global peace and security. The country is interested in exchanging experiences and cooperation in this area, and within its capabilities, contributes to combating terrorism, transnational crime, and drug trafficking.

According to the publication, climate change is an area requiring increased attention in the partnership between Turkmenistan and the EU. Among the promising areas are energy, transportation, and a closed-loop "green" economy.
