The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the 75th session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva.

In his welcome speech, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi highly praised the efforts of Turkmenistan's leadership in eradicating statelessness, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Vepa Khadjiyev, speaking at the first panel session, noted that, thanks to the initiatives of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the President of Turkmenistan, a campaign to completely eliminate statelessness in the country was concluded on September 24.

Amanmukhammet Sazakow, Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, also spoke, emphasizing that more than 32,000 people were granted Turkmen citizenship, and over 5,000 received residence permits. This demonstrates Turkmenistan's commitment to protecting human rights and fulfilling international obligations, the source notes.
