This is a historic moment, said US President Joe Biden at a meeting in New York with the presidents of Central Asia in the C5+1 format, the White House press service reports.
According to the head of the United States, the countries rely on many years of close cooperation between Central Asia and the United States - cooperation based on a common commitment to sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
I am honored to be here with you at our first Presidential Summit. I think this is a historical moment. And today we are taking our cooperation to a new level, said Joe Biden.
Joe Biden also noted that the countries are strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism, including increasing US security funding in Central Asia.
At the same time, regional economic ties are strengthening. A new business platform is being created to complement diplomatic engagement and better connect private sectors. Countries are discussing the potential of a new dialogue on critical minerals to strengthen energy security and supply chains for years to come.
The US President also noted that countries are launching a new initiative to protect the rights of persons with disabilities.
I look forward to working with you all and I truly believe the world is a safer place when we stand together. I look forward to meeting you soon, perhaps in one of your countries,” concluded Joe Biden.
