The 9th annual interregional meeting of the heads of customs services was held in the Turkmen capital as part of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) initiative "Passenger and Cargo Profiling Group at the Border," reports the website of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by the heads and authorized representatives of the customs services of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey participated as observers.
The agenda included the creation of a mechanism for exchanging preliminary information on high-risk cargoes between Port Control Units, the implementation of the initiative's component called the "Regional Alert System for High-Risk Cargo – RECASIS." Participants discussed the refinement and further implementation of the mobile application ContainerCOMM and the establishment of new Port Control Units in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The progress achieved, prospects, and priority directions for the implementation of the UNODC Global Container Control Programme and the Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of an Interregional Network of Customs Services and Port Control Units were also among the key topics.
