Kyrgyzstan Opens New Transport Corridor through China to Pakistan

BISHKEK - Kyrgyzstan has launched a pilot international transport route between China and Pakistan, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Transport and Communications announced, 24.kg reports.

The new corridor begins in Bishkek and passes through the Torugart border crossing, then along the Kashgar-Khunjerab-Islamabad route, ending at the port of Karachi. The total route length is approximately 3,300 kilometers.

The project, implemented jointly with the Association of International Carriers of Kyrgyzstan, aims to develop alternative logistics routes and ensure direct access to seaports.

According to the ministry, the launch of the corridor will expand the country's export capacity and boost foreign trade.

Pakistan Ambassador Altamash Wazir Khan also announced the practical launch of the route, noting that the first cargo was successfully delivered to Pakistan under the coordination of the relevant agencies of the two countries.

The parties intend to continue cooperation in developing transport and trade infrastructure.
