Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Development Discussed at International Conference

ASHGABAT – The 18th International Scientific Conference "The Turkmen Horse and the World Art of Horse Breeding" was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan's capital, to coincide with the National Turkmen Horse Day, reports Turkmenportal.com.

The forum brought together scientists, specialists, and representatives of relevant organizations to discuss prospects for the development of horse breeding and the preservation of the unique Akhal-Teke breed. Before the conference, participants viewed a thematic exhibition featuring artwork, carpets, jewelry, and photographs dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses.

During the plenary session, the special symbolism of holding the event in the year commemorating the country's independence was noted, and the international recognition of the Akhal-Teke breed, which is included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, was emphasized.

Special attention was given to issues of horse breeding, increasing the herd, improving horse health, and modern methods of housing and feeding. A decree by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conferring honorary titles on industry specialists was read at the conference.

International experts from Europe and Turkey also participated in the forum via video link. They shared their experiences in breeding Akhal-Teke horses and expressed their willingness to expand international cooperation.

Following the conference, the participants reaffirmed the need to further develop scientific research and strengthen cooperation in horse breeding at the international level.
