Kazakh and Serbian presidents stressed importance of bilateral relations

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks in a narrow format with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh President on November 19, 2024, according to Zakon.kz.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Tokayev stated that his first visit to Serbia as head of state holds special significance. He emphasized that this visit opens a new and important chapter in Kazakh-Serbian relations.

The Kazakh President noted that the trust-based cooperation between the two countries is built on consistent political dialogue and mutual support. In recent years, he highlighted, Astana and Belgrade have taken significant steps to strengthen economic interaction, actively developing trade and investment ties.

On this occasion, Tokayev expressed his gratitude to Vučić and the people of Serbia for their solidarity during the spring floods in Kazakhstan. He described this gesture as a vivid demonstration of sincere friendship between the two nations.

In response, Aleksandar Vučić expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop based on mutual respect and trust. He stated that Belgrade is interested in further deepening economic ties with Kazakhstan, particularly in the areas of trade, investments, and joint projects in key economic sectors.

The Serbian President reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening political dialogue with Kazakhstan and underscored the importance of further coordinating actions on the international stage.

During the meeting, the heads of state discussed the current state of relations between Kazakhstan and Serbia, as well as promising areas for further strengthening cooperation. Additionally, they exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Serbia for an official visit on November 18, 2024. He was met at Belgrade Airport by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. In honor of the visit, Kazakhstan's flag was displayed on the "Belgrade Tower." Later, it was revealed that Tokayev surprised Vučić with a Kazakh brand gift.
