Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, discussed a range of energy projects, including the construction of a nuclear power plant, with the Deputy Director-General for International Activities of "Rosatom," Nikolai Spasskiy, the Russian state corporation announced.
The two parties continued their discussion on various areas of cooperation between the two countries in the field of "green" energy, including not only the flagship project to build a small-scale Russian-designed nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan but also wind and hydropower generation, as stated in Rosatom's press release.
It's worth noting that Rosatom did not provide details about the negotiations, and the location of the meeting with Ibraev was not disclosed. Furthermore, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy did not report the event at all, where a significant project for a nuclear power station was being discussed for the Kyrgyz people.
Rosatom's Director-General, Alexey Likhachev, announced in early June 2023 at the Eurasian Congress in Sochi that Kyrgyzstan would be the first country outside of Russia where the Russian company would build a small-scale nuclear power station.
