Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan participated in an international seminar on customs administration, held September 7–9 in Warsaw. Organized by the European Commission, GIZ, and the Polish Tax Administration, the meeting brought together delegations from 15 countries, as well as EU and UN experts, Orient.tm reported.
The main goal of the forum was to remove barriers to transport routes between the European Union, Central Asia, the Black Sea region, and the South Caucasus, as well as to increase the capacity of the Middle Corridor.
The parties discussed the digitalization of border control, the implementation of the eTIR system, the integration of the Single Window, and risk management. The Turkmen delegation studied their Polish colleagues' IT infrastructure and cargo clearance procedures. The meeting resulted in the formation of a Joint Action Plan for the Synchronization of Customs Procedures between Asia and Europe.
Participation in the seminar is of strategic importance for Turkmenistan, which is strengthening its status as a key logistics hub at the crossroads of Asia and Europe. The implementation of digital standards such as the eTIR system and single-window mechanisms will significantly speed up the passage of goods across borders and reduce administrative costs for carriers.
Synchronizing customs procedures with partners along the Middle Corridor will increase the attractiveness of the national transport infrastructure, including the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. This will attract new transit flows, stimulate the development of foreign trade, and strengthen the country's integration into the international logistics system.
