Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov spoke at the 16th summit of heads of state of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OEC) in Tashkent, as reported by the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
In his speech, Sadyr Japarov emphasized that regional and interregional integration based on common economic interests is a key element of the vision for the future. He highlighted the main directions for cooperation in this format:
- Trade Sector: While the trade volume is growing, the role of the OEC in the system of regional economic and business ties does not yet correspond to its potential.
- Transport and Logistics: The region can serve as a key bridge between the North and South, West and East, so it is necessary to develop transport and logistics corridors, multimodal transportation, and implement the project to build the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
- Ensuring Energy Security: Expanding the geography of energy supplies can play a crucial role in ensuring the energy security of the region.
- Information and Communication Technologies: Kyrgyzstan invites IT companies from OEC member countries to cooperate and develop joint informational products in the Kyrgyzstan High-Tech Park.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation is a regional intergovernmental economic structure that includes Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. The organization was established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, with its permanent secretariat headquartered in Tehran.
