As part of the humanitarian project "Food Basket 2025," the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will assist 35,000 people in Tajikistan. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center will distribute 7,120 food baskets with a total value of $400,000, reports Asiaplus.tj.

Each food basket, weighing about 70 kg, contains flour, vegetable oil, sugar, rice, legumes, and other essential products purchased from local markets.

"These baskets will provide food for a family of five for one month, and the total weight of all the baskets exceeds 490 tons," stated the embassy. The selection of recipients is carried out in collaboration with the government of Tajikistan and the Red Crescent Society.

The Saudi Embassy in Tajikistan also added that the "Food Basket 2025" project is one of the humanitarian initiatives of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which will be implemented this year in 25 countries during the holy month of Ramadan.

In 2024, Saudi Arabia also provided humanitarian assistance to the residents of Dushanbe for Ramadan.

The assistance was distributed among residents of four districts of the city and included 7,427 food baskets. Each basket contained flour, sugar, oil, pasta, tea, beans, rice, peas, and other grains.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center started its activities in Tajikistan in 2015. Since then, it has implemented numerous humanitarian projects, including food security, infrastructure restoration, housing, and healthcare. The total funding amount has exceeded $16.1 million.
