Trade turnover between Tajikistan and China could exceed $5 billion in the coming years, stated Senior Research Fellow at the Taihe Institute, Din Jiangwei, Avesta reports.

"Economic, trade, and investment cooperation between China and Tajikistan is steadily growing. According to Chinese statistics, bilateral trade turnover reached $3.926 billion in 2024, showing a growth of 53.5% compared to the previous year. China is the leading trading partner of Tajikistan. It is expected that in the coming years, the trade turnover between the two countries will exceed $5 billion," he said.

As the Belt and Road Initiative further aligns with Tajikistan's national development strategy for the period up to 2030, cooperation between the two countries deepens in various areas such as economics and trade, energy, transportation, agriculture, investments, finance, hydroenergy, ecology, industry, food security, artificial intelligence, and more, according to the Chinese expert.

"Currently, China and Tajikistan are exploring new areas and actively expanding cooperation horizons, particularly in green energy and the digital economy, which undoubtedly contributes to sustainable socio-economic development and stable improvement of the well-being of the Tajik people," noted Din Jiangwei.
