The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, called on Turkic countries to formulate a unified transportation strategy for the revival of the Great Silk Road in a new format called the "Turkic Belt," Turkmenportal reports.
He made this statement during the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States in Ashgabat, according to TDH.
Berdimuhamedov emphasized the transportation sector as one of the priority areas for cooperation among Turkic countries. He stressed the need to consolidate efforts to reach agreements with international partners and investors for the implementation of joint infrastructure projects.
He particularly highlighted the importance of Turkmenistan's strategy for reviving the Great Silk Road, where Turkic states should play a key role. In the Middle Ages, the "Turkic Belt" served as a link between the East and the West, facilitating cultural enrichment and the exchange of achievements in various spheres.
According to Berdimuhamedov, in contemporary realities, it is necessary to rethink this historical mission and adapt it to create a new structure of multi-faceted cooperation in the Eurasian space - in politics, economics, trade, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The implementation of this ambitious task should become a sustainable and consistent process.
