Turkmenistan experiencing disruptions in fuel supplies to gas stations

In the Yoloten district of the Mary region of Turkmenistan, long lines are forming for gasoline, reported "Chronicles of Turkmenistan" in early June 2024.

Gas station workers attribute this to the fact that fuel is being prioritized for machinery used in the grain harvesting campaign.

Another reason for the gasoline shortage is that local authorities are unofficially trading it for wheat with Uzbekistan.

The fuel shortage is also being felt in other regions of Turkmenistan.

A photo from social media shows a crowd at one of the gas stations in Lebap on July 6.

On July 8, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was informed that two out of five regions had already met their wheat harvesting plan. It appears the grain harvesting campaign is coming to an end, so car owners are hopeful.
