Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin stated that Kazakh and Afghan banks have completed their first trial payment, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the agency, the payment amounted to $10,000. The transaction was conducted between the Kazakh bank 'Zaman' and the Afghan bank 'Ghazanfar.' The next phase will involve transferring larger sums in various currencies such as euros and yuan.
'Increasing the trade turnover to $3 billion is becoming a realistic prospect in the near future,' Zhumangarin stated on social media.
Earlier, representatives of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan signed a roadmap. Both parties expressed their intention to boost mutual trade turnover to $3 billion.
