Prime Minister Alihan Smailov and President of the Chinese company Sinopec, Yu Baocai, discussed the implementation of new projects in Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, "Kazinform" reports.
Prime Minister Smailov emphasized that with the direct participation of Sinopec in Kazakhstan, several significant projects have been completed, including the modernization of the Atyrau Oil Refinery.
He also reminded that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set the task for accelerated development in the petrochemical industry.
"In this regard, the 'Polyethylene' anchor project is an important step in the development of the petrochemical industry, and its implementation will have a multiplier effect on the country's economy. Given that Sinopec is one of the global leaders in the petrochemical industry, the question of the company's involvement in the project as an equal partner is of strategic importance," said Alihan Smailov.
It was also noted that Sinopec is considering the possibility of participating in other promising projects in Kazakhstan.
The head of Sinopec mentioned that cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the energy sector is developing at a rapid pace. In turn, this makes a significant contribution to the prosperity of the two countries' peoples.
President of Sinopec also proposed organizing professional internships for Kazakhstani specialists in the oil and gas industry.
