Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, met with Gazi Shbaikat, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the country, Avesta.tj reported.
The parties discussed the state of the economy, industrial development, and future cooperation. They noted the completion of the first stage of the National Industrialization Strategy and the beginning of the second, which includes modernizing production facilities and expanding exports.
Despite high energy tariffs, fuel restrictions, and logistical challenges, industry maintains positive momentum. Advanced processing, light industry, digitalization, and artificial intelligence were identified as promising areas.
For Tajikistan, cooperation with the IMF is of strategic importance, as the Fund facilitates economic reforms, strengthens state institutions, and increases economic resilience.
Continued cooperation is particularly important given the need to modernize industry, train personnel, and attract investment. IMF support can help Dushanbe strengthen macroeconomic stability and create more favorable conditions for long-term growth.
