Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, Meder Masheev, held a working meeting with representatives of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Company, which is implementing the international railway construction project, Economist.kg reports.
The meeting was attended by the company’s Acting General Director, Gong Xinyun. The parties discussed the current status of the project and cooperation on environmental oversight during construction.
Masheev stated that the Ministry is conducting expedited environmental assessments, ensuring interagency coordination, and is ready to provide full support to the project. He instructed relevant departments within the Ministry to maintain constant contact with the company and to resolve arising issues promptly.
Gong Xinyun expressed gratitude for the support and confirmed the company’s commitment to open and constructive cooperation. He noted that project implementation is proceeding according to schedule.
Earlier, on April 29, the official start of construction on one of the key elements of the railway — a tunnel in Jalal-Abad region — was launched.
The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway line, stretching 532.53 km, will connect the railway networks of China and Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan. From there, it will link to the European rail system through Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkey, as part of the New Silk Road transport system.
The route runs through Kyrgyzstan’s challenging mountainous terrain, where dozens of tunnels and bridges will be constructed, including three tunnels each over 12 kilometers long.
The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Construction Company was established in September 2024, with its headquarters in Bishkek. It includes representatives from all three participating countries.
