ASTANA - Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. The two sides discussed expanding their trade and economic partnership, Kursiv.kz reported.
By the end of 2025, trade between the two countries amounted to $244.7 million, with an additional $31.5 million expected in the first quarter of 2026. Kazakhstan supplies Indonesia with metallurgy, chemicals, and manufacturing products, while Indonesia supplies electronics and textiles.
"Kazakhstan attaches great importance to expanding trade and economic ties with Indonesia. We believe there is significant potential for increasing these figures and are interested in expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation," Bektenov stated.
Promising areas identified at the meeting included energy, agriculture and food processing, textiles, Islamic banking, the digital economy, education, and tourism. Transport logistics were discussed separately: Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a transit hub for access to the markets of Central Asia, the EAEU, the Caucasus, and Europe.
