Kazakhstan implements a megaproject to expand gas transportation system

A symbolic welding of the first joint of the construction of the megaproject of the gas transmission system in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, the second line of the Beineu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline, took place. The total length of the second line of the gas pipeline will be 308 km, the throughput capacity will be 5.8 billion cubic meters per year, Kazakh media reported.

The implementation of this project will have a favorable multiplier effect on the socio-economic development of the region, said the head of the Mangistau region Nurlan Nogaev.

“As part of the execution of the instructions of the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to ensure a stable gas supply to the Mangistau region, the national company QazaqGaz began construction of the second line of the Beineu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline. The implementation of this project will contribute to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the creation of new jobs, as well as improving the quality of life of the population," Lada.kz quotes Nogaev.

Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC QazaqGaz, also noted that the implementation of the mega-project will ensure stable gas supply to the settlements of the Mangistau region, large enterprises whose work directly depends on reliable and uninterrupted gas transportation for generating electricity, heat and water supply to the population, social objects and industrial enterprises of the region, as well as preventing emergency situations and eliminating the risk of gas supply interruptions, as a strategically important service to the population of the region.

Completion of construction and commissioning of a new branch of the gas pipeline is planned for December 2023.
