In Kazakhstan, men marry for the first time on average at 27.6 years, while women marry at 25.
Among Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan has one of the highest marriage ages. In Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, this figure is 24.2 years, in Uzbekistan it is 24.7 years, and in Kyrgyzstan it is 25.4 years.
Compared to the CIS countries, residents of Armenia (26.8 years), Belarus (27.2 years), and Russia (27.6 years) marry later than in Kazakhstan. Experts attribute this trend to a longer period of education, career development, and a desire for financial stability before starting a family.
Among the global rankings, the lowest marriage ages are found in countries in Africa and South Asia. Niger leads the pack, with the average age at first marriage being 21. Liberia, Tanzania, Nepal, Laos, and Nigeria also rank among countries with early marriages.
At the opposite end of the spectrum are countries in Europe and the Americas. Spain has the highest average age at first marriage at 39.8 years, reflecting the trend toward later marriage in developed countries.
