Residents of the village of Barak, which is a Kyrgyz ex-clave in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, were resettled to Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the ElTR TV channel.

In Barak, all houses and social facilities were dismantled, a total of 98 families were created, as noted in the report. They were temporarily resettled in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan.

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan intend to settle this entire family in one territory, Uzbekistan, in exchange for Barak. The construction plan has already been developed, the houses are scheduled to be commissioned this year.

In 2018, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan agreed to exchange plots of land - Uzbekistan received the territory of Barak in exchange for an equivalent plot. In 2022, the head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, announced a final agreement with Uzbekistan on the exchange of territories.

Esk Barklavak is surrounded by mudflows in the Kurgantepe district of the Andijan region and is located five kilometers from the border in Uzbekistan.

The Barak exclave turned out to be a small piece of Kyrgyz territory where a minority of the Barak village lived. During Kyrgyzstan's tense relations with Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, most of the population moved to Kyrgyzstan.
