SAMARKAND - The international environmental exhibition Eco Expo Central Asia 2026 opened at the Silk Road Samarkand exhibition center, bringing together representatives from over 100 countries, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, businesses, and the expert community, UzDaily.uz reports.
The opening ceremony, which included a symbolic ribbon cutting, was led by representatives of Uzbekistan, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Participants emphasized the importance of the exhibition as a platform for the development of green technologies and international cooperation.
The organizers noted that the forum aims to stimulate environmental investment, the launch of joint projects, and the promotion of sustainable development in the region. Particular attention is given to the idea of transforming Samarkand into a hub for green investment and environmental innovation in Central Asia.
In 2026, the exhibition expanded its format: approximately 10,000 participants, more than 68 pavilions, and over 50 thematic events dedicated to the climate agenda, water resources, waste management, and green economy development are expected.
Eco Expo Central Asia strengthens Uzbekistan's position as a regional hub for environmental diplomacy and sustainable development.
