India is among the leading countries in the world in the development of software products and the implementation of new information technologies. Many countries in Central Asia are interested in cooperating with Indian specialists in this field.
Meanwhile India plans to deepen its partnership with Turkmenistan in the fields of information technology, medicine, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare in 2025, said India’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat at an event at the Indian Embassy,Turkmenportal.tm reports.
According to the diplomat, special attention will be given to the development of the IT sector, where India is a recognized leader. Indian companies also intend to participate in the creation of a medical cluster in the city of Arkadag.
The Ambassador noted the significant strengthening of bilateral relations in 2024, during which delegations of journalists and youth were exchanged. An important cultural event was India’s participation in the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Mahtumkuli Fragi and the installation of a statue of Indian writer and poet Rabindranath Tagore in Turkmenistan.
Currently, about 100 Indian citizens live in Turkmenistan, mostly working in the textile and oil and gas sectors. Educational ties are actively developing – recently, a group of 20 young Turkmen specialists visited India as part of the ITEC and ICCR programs.
On Tuesday, an event was held at the Indian Embassy in Ashgabat to launch a website for the Indian diaspora in honor of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebration, which is observed annually on January 9.
