Starting from March 1, Turkmenistan will begin supplying natural gas to Turkey. This was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, reports Orient.tm.

"As we know, we started this week with good news regarding Turkmenistan-Turkey cooperation. From March 1, Turkmen gas will start flowing to Turkey. I believe that this historic step will serve as another foundation for strengthening cooperation between our countries. On this occasion, I congratulate everyone on this event," said the Turkish ambassador.

According to the diplomat, the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Turkey through Iran under a barter scheme has been a topic of discussion for many years.

In March last year, as part of the 3rd Antalya Diplomatic Forum, a "Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of Cooperation in the Field of Natural Gas" was signed. Within the framework of this agreement, representatives of BOTAŞ and Turkmengaz held a series of meetings.

"On February 10, 2025, an agreement was signed for the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Turkey through Iran under a barter scheme with an annual volume of up to 2 billion cubic meters. The gas supplies are scheduled to begin on March 1, 2025. The supply of Turkmen natural gas to our country has been a subject of discussion for more than 30 years. Thus, we are fulfilling a long-held dream together with our Turkmen brothers," emphasized Demirok.
