Turkmenistan and WTO discussed further steps for country's accession to organization

ASHGABAT - On May 19, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Maika Oshikawa, Director of the World Trade Organization Accession Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported, according to Turkmenportal.com.

During the talks, the parties discussed current issues related to Turkmenistan's interaction with the WTO, including specific steps towards the country's accession. Participants exchanged views on the state of regional and international trade and economic cooperation, improving the national legal framework, and developing interactions with international organizations and relevant agencies.

During the talks, the consistent nature of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the WTO was noted.

As part of the visit of the Director of the Accession Department to Ashgabat, a meeting is also scheduled with representatives of the Government Commission for the Study of Issues Related to Turkmenistan's Accession to the WTO.
