Uzbekistan and China to jointly combat theft of cultural property

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved an agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and China to prevent the theft, illegal excavations, and unauthorized import and export of cultural property, reports Podrobno.uz.

The agreement was signed on January 24, 2024, in Beijing, according to the legal information channel of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

According to the document, the Cultural Heritage Agency of Uzbekistan has been designated as the competent authority responsible for implementing this international agreement.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, along with the heads of relevant ministries and agencies, will oversee the enforcement of the agreement's provisions in accordance with the established procedures once the agreement comes into effect.
