The new Afghan ambassador, Abdul Ghaffar Bahr, has arrived in Tashkent. He was welcomed by colleagues - Afghan chargé d'affaires Magfurullah Shahab and former Uzbek ambassador to Afghanistan, Yodgor Khudja Shadmanov, reports Afghan television channel Ariana News.

Abdul Ghaffar Bahr is originally from Kandahar. He previously headed one of the departments of the Supreme Court under the Taliban government.

Earlier, Bahr was introduced as Abdul Ghaffar Tirawi. He is expected to become the third Taliban diplomat to receive official accreditation in a foreign country. Previously, Taliban representatives were accredited by China and the UAE.

In February, the Taliban appointed Magfurullah Shahab as their chargé d'affaires in Uzbekistan. Shahab is the son of the Taliban's Minister of Mining, Shahabuddin Delawar. He replaced Khalid Elmi, who headed the embassy before the Taliban came to power.
